Slumber Party Series Part Two: Get On The ZZZ List With Luxe Sleep Accessories
Welcome to part two of my Slumber Party series. 2016 is almost over and resolutions are on everyone’s mind. Even if your resolution is fitness or wellness related (and really whose isn’t?), it’s been scientifically proven that getting more sleep will help you reach those goals and support an overall healthy lifestyle.
But, if you’re anything like me, it’s hard to relax in bed. My life is crazy and I always have so much going on. My mind feels like the Energizer Bunny because it keeps going and going and going and going… However, since adding some luxe sleep accessories to my bedtime routine, I’m able to wind down and relax a whole lot faster. So, if you want to be on the ZZZ-list, here are four ways to join my slumber party.
Slumbr Pillows
Sometimes a better pillow is all you need for a superior night of slumber. But the process of purchasing a pillow is a total pain in the neck (sorry, I can’t help myself). The last time I bought a pillow at a retail store, I kept feeling and petting those things like a puppy. Sure, it felt soft and fluffy, but I really had no idea if I chose the right pillow for me. Spoiler Alert: I didn’t.
Then, I tried to buy another set of pillows from a website where I was at the mercy of reviews. Long story short: SleepXprt4U69 was not an expert after all.
Several sets of crappy pillows later, I was thrilled to discover Slumbr. The company was founded by two Silicon Valley #girlbosses turned pillow experts, Michelle Fishberg and Heather Rebuelta. They realized that people spend thousands of dollars on mattresses, but cheap out when it comes to pillows and then wonder why they aren’t getting a good night’s sleep. After some facepalming and major research, they designed six different pillows to fit a variety of sleep styles and budgets. Then they created a highly scientific but also short (because really who has time for this?) quiz to help you choose the right one. Quite simply, Slumbr is a total game changer.
Soft Surroundings Silk Pillow Case
We all love our 10 bajillion thread count Egyptian Cotton sheets, but unfortunately, if you use a cotton pillowcase, you might as well be sleeping on a cactus. I hate to break it to you, but cotton dries out your skin and hair, causing split ends. That’s why you need to make the switch to silk. Silk pillowcases are like a magical beauty treatment. In addition to preventing bed head, silk helps your skin retain moisture, so all of your products work better.
My favorite silk pillowcase is from Soft Surroundings. It makes me feel like I’m sleeping at a five star hotel. Also, unlike many other silk pillowcases, this one is machine washable, so you don’t have to get it dry cleaned. Available in 12 colors with lots of monogram options, Soft Surroundings makes sure your bed looks just as fabulous as you do.
AnaOno SHHH! Eye Mask
Nothing kills a deep sleep faster than sunshine. (Isn’t that literally the only time you don’t like sunshine?) So, avoid the light from hitting your eyes with this chic sleep mask from Ana Ono. Embroidered with a message for your bedmate and an elastic strap to stay secure, this mask practically guarantees a better night of shuteye.
Tata Harper Aromatic Bedtime Treatment
Sometimes, it’s just impossible to CTFD. Tata Harper’s Aromatic Bedtime Treatment is made for those moments. Featuring notes of melissa (the plant, not your best friend from fifth grade), orange, lemon and lavender, all you need to do is apply it to your pulse points before bedtime. Then take at least five deep breaths and get ready to drift off to Slumberland. It might just be your new Ambien, but obviously natural and less harmful.
