Dressing Like The Stars: Emmys 2016 Edition
Whether you are going to the Emmy Awards or your friend Emmy’s wedding, we all want to look and feel fabulous when we go to a special event. Awards shows are a great source for style inspiration. While you might not be able to score your own Christian Siriano like Nicey Nash (one of my favorite looks of the evening), you don’t need to wear couture to feel like a Hollywood star. Here are some of the most note-worthy dresses of the 2016 Emmy Awards alongside similar dresses that embrace the same trends. Any one of these choices will get you voted best-dressed, even if it’s just at your cousin’s bar mitzvah.
One of the biggest surprises this year was how many people wore yellow. It is such a fun and refreshing, but elegant color. Both BCBG's Danielle and Ruffle Gowns are equally sunny and stylish.
White dresses after Labor Day? Why yes! Nicey Nash's Christian Siriano dress was one of my favorite looks of the evening. This white sweetheart neckline dress by MISHA COLLECTION captures your curves like couture, while the white high neckline of KEEPSAKE'S Clockwork Dress is a more causal take on the awards show favorite.
Cutouts were everywhere on the red carpet. Copy the look with this white one-sleeve dress from MISGUIDED or jaw-dropping black stunner from MICHELLE MASON.
Floral appliques and overlays were very unique to the Emmys this year. It's a beautiful trend that will hopefully continue through awards season. This ALICE + OLIVIA Tamera Tea Length Dress is a great take on the trend you can wear year round. LUSH'S fit and flare dress is a totally different style and combines several trends we saw at the Emmys, overlays and the colors nude and red.
Is it a coincidence that some of the most glam dresses and carpets are the same color? I don't think so. Red automatically kicks everything up a level. Check out this plunging neckline dress by ABS and the still sexy, but slightly more appropriate keyhole dress by AIDAN MATTOX.
